Cleveland, OH – A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Ashtabula, Geauga, and Lake Counties in Ohio from Thursday morning through Friday evening, with the potential for 8 inches or more of snow, according to the National Weather Service in Cleveland.

The storm system will move in Wednesday evening, with rain changing to snow overnight as cold air rushes in behind a strong front. Forecasters say the heaviest snow will fall Thursday into Friday, especially in the primary snowbelt areas near Lake Erie, where totals may exceed a foot under stronger lake-effect bands.

Strong west to southwest winds of 40–50 mph are expected to accompany the storm, causing blowing and drifting snow, reduced visibility, and difficult driving conditions—especially for Thanksgiving travelers.

The NWS advises residents to secure outdoor items and prepare for hazardous commutes across northern Ohio and northwestern Pennsylvania.
