Cleveland, OH – A wintry mix will transition to lake effect snow tonight across Northeast Ohio and Northwest Pennsylvania, creating difficult travel conditions and the potential for isolated power outages into Tuesday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, Winter Weather Advisories and a Lake Effect Snow Warning have been issued, effective 7 p.m. Sunday through 1 p.m. Tuesday. The heaviest snowfall is expected along the Lake Erie shoreline and higher terrain from Cleveland to Erie, where 6 to 11 inches of accumulation is possible. Advisory areas could see up to 4 inches, with localized 6-inch totals under persistent snow bands.

Forecasters caution that poor visibility and slick, snow-covered roads will make travel hazardous late tonight and into the Monday morning commute. Additionally, the weight of wet snow combined with remaining leaves on trees could result in downed limbs and scattered power outages.

Snow is expected to taper off gradually from west to east late Monday into Tuesday. Drivers are urged to check conditions before traveling and allow extra time to reach destinations.
