Cleveland, Ohio – Light lake-enhanced snow showers will continue through Thursday evening across Northeast Ohio, bringing minor accumulations and slick travel conditions.

According to the US National Weather Service in Cleveland, ongoing snow showers are expected to persist across portions of Northeast Ohio and Northwest Pennsylvania into Thursday evening. The highest snowfall totals — generally 1 to 2 inches — are forecast inland across Northwest Pennsylvania, including areas near Interstate 79 and Interstate 90.

Across northern Ohio, including Cleveland, Akron and Youngstown, most areas are expected to receive lighter accumulations of around 1 inch or less. Snow bands may periodically reduce visibility, especially along Interstate 90 near the Lake Erie shoreline, Interstate 71 through Cleveland, and Interstate 77 and Interstate 80 farther inland.

Forecasters say impacts should remain minimal, but untreated roads and elevated surfaces could become slick during heavier bursts of snow.

The snow is driven by lake-enhanced conditions off Lake Erie, with activity gradually diminishing later Thursday evening.

Drivers commuting along I-90, I-71, I-77 and I-80 should allow extra travel time and watch for changing road conditions, particularly during the evening hours.

No major winter storm impacts are expected, but localized heavier bands could briefly affect visibility in parts of Northeast Ohio and Northwest Pennsylvania.

Students and commuters traveling Thursday afternoon and evening should monitor updates before heading out.
