Cleveland, OH – Residents across Cleveland are being urged to prepare for another round of accumulating snow this weekend as a cold front moves through the region, followed by persistent lake effect snowfall and bitter cold conditions through Monday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, snow is expected to begin Saturday morning as a cold front crosses northern Ohio, with coverage increasing by Saturday afternoon and evening. By Saturday night, the system is forecast to transition into lake effect snow, leading to prolonged impacts for Cleveland and nearby communities.

Forecast snowfall totals through Monday morning range from 2 to 5 inches in areas away from Lake Erie, while lake effect snow bands could bring 6 to 14 inches in and around the Cleveland metro area. Totals are expected to vary significantly depending on band placement, a hallmark of lake effect events.

The greatest impacts are expected overnight Saturday through Sunday, when wind gusts of 20 to 35 mph may cause blowing and drifting snow, sharply reducing visibility at times. Snow-covered roads and rapidly changing driving conditions could make travel difficult, especially on highways and elevated surfaces.

Temperatures will remain well below seasonal averages through Monday, allowing snow to accumulate efficiently and linger on roadways. Officials advise residents to limit unnecessary travel, keep emergency supplies in vehicles, and monitor updates in case snowfall totals increase.

Cleveland residents living east of downtown should be especially alert, as lake effect bands often focus in those areas.
