CLEVELAND, OH – A quiet and fairly uneventful weather pattern is expected across northeast Ohio through Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, according to the National Weather Service in Cleveland.
Forecasters describe the holiday outlook as “low fanfare,” with near-normal to slightly above-normal temperatures and generally damp conditions. High temperatures on both Wednesday and Thursday will mainly range from the upper 30s to the lower 40s, keeping conditions more mild than a typical late-December setup.
Light rain is possible late Wednesday into Wednesday night, though rainfall amounts are expected to remain minimal. Snow chances are essentially zero for most locations, aside from the possibility of a brief rain/snow mix in parts of northwest Ohio.
Looking ahead, attention turns to late Thursday night into Friday, when freezing rain becomes increasingly possible across northwest Ohio, far northeast Ohio, and into northwest Pennsylvania. While details are still being refined, this could lead to slick travel in those areas if temperatures dip near or below freezing.
Overall, travel impacts through Christmas Day should remain limited for much of the region, with cloudy skies and occasional damp conditions being the primary concern rather than wintry precipitation.
Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts as the potential for freezing rain later in the week becomes clearer.
