Cleveland, Ohio – Lingering lake-effect snow showers are expected to continue across northeast Ohio on Monday, bringing an additional 1 to 3 inches of snowfall, according to the National Weather Service.

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through 4 p.m. Monday, covering primary and secondary snowbelt areas of north-central and northeast Ohio, including portions of the Cleveland region. Forecasters say the highest totals will fall in the snowbelts, where bands of lake-effect snow may persist into the afternoon.

The additional snowfall is expected to keep many roads snow-covered and slippery, particularly in areas that experience repeated snow showers. Minor blowing snow is also possible at times, which could briefly reduce visibility.

While snowfall rates are not expected to be intense, the prolonged nature of the lake-effect snow will continue to impact travel, especially during the midday and afternoon commute. Untreated roads and secondary streets are most likely to remain slick.

Drivers are urged to use caution if traveling, allow extra stopping distance, and remain alert for rapidly changing conditions within lake-effect snow bands.

The National Weather Service notes that snow showers should gradually diminish later today, though cold temperatures will allow snow and ice to persist on roadways even after snowfall tapers off.
