Cleveland, Ohio – A fast-moving clipper system is expected to bring widespread light snow across northern Ohio tonight into Monday morning, followed by a prolonged stretch of bitter cold, according to the National Weather Service in Cleveland.

In a social media update posted Sunday morning, the National Weather Service said most areas can expect around 1 to 2 inches of snow between Sunday evening and early Monday afternoon. Snowfall is expected to be fairly uniform across the region, with light accumulations impacting the Monday morning commute.

Forecasters also warned that an Arctic air mass will arrive Monday, bringing the coldest wind chills of the season. Wind chills are expected to fall into the 10 below to 20 below zero range Monday night into Tuesday morning, creating potentially dangerous conditions with prolonged outdoor exposure.

Additional updates from the National Weather Service indicate that below-average temperatures are likely to persist through next weekend and beyond, increasing confidence in an extended cold pattern. Several additional clipper systems may also bring periods of light snow into midweek, though details were not specified.

Residents are encouraged to dress in layers, cover exposed skin, limit time outdoors, and ensure pets are protected from the cold. Drivers should remain cautious during periods of snow and cold, especially during overnight and early morning hours.

The National Weather Service advises continuing to monitor official updates as the cold pattern settles into the region.
