Cleveland, OH – The coldest air of the season is set to arrive in northern Ohio beginning Sunday night, bringing a mix of rain, snow, and sharply colder temperatures, according to the U.S. National Weather Service in Cleveland.
Forecasters say a strong low-pressure system will move through the region Sunday, with rain likely to mix with wet snow by evening. As colder air pours in overnight, lake-effect snow showers are expected to develop along the Lake Erie shoreline and into the Cleveland metro and Snowbelt areas.
“Confidence in accumulating lake-effect snow in portions of the Snowbelt is increasing,” meteorologists said Thursday morning, though exact snowfall totals and band placement remain uncertain.
Daytime highs will drop into the 30s Monday and Tuesday, with overnight lows falling into the 20s. Wind chills could dip into the teens at times, marking the first significant taste of winter across the region.
Residents in northeast Ohio—especially near Cleveland, Ashtabula, and Erie counties—should prepare for slick travel conditions and possible accumulations late Sunday through Tuesday.
