Cleveland, OH – A chilly pattern has settled across northeast Ohio, with unseasonably cold temperatures and snow showers expected through early Wednesday, creating disruptions for residents and commuters.
According to the National Weather Service Cleveland, a strong cold front arriving Monday will bring gusty winds and scattered snow showers Monday night into Tuesday. Highs across the region are forecast to hover between 34°F and 41°F on Tuesday—well below the seasonal average of mid-50s. Areas such as Erie, PA, and Ashtabula, OH, may not see highs above the mid-30s.
Overnight lows Monday and Tuesday are expected to drop well below freezing, raising concerns for unprotected vegetation and icy road conditions during morning commutes. Cities like Akron-Canton, Elyria, and Medina are forecast to dip into the 20s, with Tuesday night shaping up to be the coldest of the stretch.
Multiple river flood warnings remain in effect following recent rainfall, and officials advise checking local updates, especially for areas prone to overflow. Despite the wintry blast, forecasters say drier and milder weather is expected to return starting Wednesday afternoon and continue into Thursday.
Residents are urged to cover sensitive plants, monitor local alerts, and prepare for slick roads during early morning hours.
