Cleveland, Ohio – Cold conditions Sunday across northeast Ohio will give way to a steady warming trend heading into Christmas week.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, high temperatures Sunday are expected to reach only the upper 20s to around 30 degrees under a mix of sun and clouds. A few snow showers are possible, mainly across far northeast Ohio and into northwest Pennsylvania, though significant accumulation is not expected.

Forecasters said the cold will be short-lived, as a warming trend begins Monday and continues through the remainder of the week. Temperatures are forecast to climb into the 40s by midweek, with some locations reaching the upper 40s and lower 50s by Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

The National Weather Service indicated that rain showers are likely as temperatures rise, with the best chances arriving Christmas Eve and continuing into Christmas Day. The warming pattern will limit any winter weather impacts during the holiday period.

Monday will feature improving conditions, with highs climbing into the upper 30s to low 40s and decreasing chances for snow. Overnight lows will also trend milder compared to the weekend.

For commuters, brief snow showers Sunday could create isolated slick spots, particularly early in the day. Later in the week, wet roads may replace wintry hazards as rain becomes more likely.

The National Weather Service advises residents to remain aware of changing conditions, especially for holiday travel plans later in the week.
