Cleveland, OH – The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a Frost Advisory for much of northern and central Ohio, warning that overnight lows in the low 30s could produce widespread frost formation early Friday morning.
The advisory is in effect from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. EDT Friday, impacting areas away from the Lake Erie shoreline, including Cleveland, Akron, Canton, Youngstown, Lorain, Marion, Mansfield, and Wooster.
According to the NWS, temperatures may dip to around 33°F, with some colder valley locations potentially falling below freezing, especially in Ashtabula, Trumbull, and Wayne counties.
“Frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation,” the agency cautioned. “Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.”
Residents are urged to bring potted plants indoors, cover gardens, and disconnect outdoor hoses to prevent damage overnight. Clear skies and calm winds will allow temperatures to drop quickly after midnight, particularly in rural and inland communities.
Forecasters expect milder daytime highs Friday, but additional cold mornings could occur over the weekend as the fall chill lingers across the Great Lakes region.
