Cleveland, Ohio – Much of northern Ohio is in for a warm, muggy Sunday with highs climbing into the upper 80s and a chance of afternoon thunderstorms from Toledo to Youngstown.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, temperatures will run 1 to 3 degrees above normal, with cities like Akron, Mansfield, and Canton expected to reach 86°F to 88°F. A 20% to 40% chance of isolated to scattered thunderstorms exists primarily in the eastern half of the state, with the greatest risk in areas like Youngstown and Meadville this afternoon.

Localized showers may develop after 2 p.m., especially in the circled region highlighted by the NWS, which stretches from central Ohio into western Pennsylvania. Light rain may spread across a wider area late Sunday night into early Monday morning, potentially impacting Monday morning commutes.

While the storms are not expected to be severe, drivers should watch for sudden downpours or brief lightning delays. Residents are advised to stay weather-aware if spending time outdoors this evening and to charge devices in case of brief outages.

Rain chances taper off Monday morning, but warm, humid air is expected to linger into midweek.
