ASTORIA, Ore. – Coastal residents along Oregon’s north coast are being urged to prepare for rising tides and possible minor flooding through Wednesday afternoon, as a Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect for Clatsop and Tillamook Counties, extending north into the South Washington Coast.

According to the National Weather Service, tidal overflow flooding is expected during high tide between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Wednesday, with water potentially reaching up to one foot above ground level in low-lying areas near bays, sloughs, and coastal rivers. Beachgoers are also warned of possible sneaker waves, which can sweep unexpectedly across the shore.

Flooding may impact sections of Highway 101, particularly near Raymond, Seaside, and Fraser Road in Tillamook County, where standing water and debris could cause travel delays. Drivers should avoid flooded routes and remain alert for changing conditions.

Officials advise residents to move vehicles and valuables to higher ground, stay clear of rising water, and avoid beach access points during high tide.

The Coastal Flood Advisory is expected to remain in effect until 2 p.m. Wednesday, though additional statements may be issued if tides remain elevated.
