Clarksville, IN – A Clarksville man is in custody following a multi-county police pursuit that stretched across southern Indiana and ended late Tuesday evening.
According to Indiana State Police Jasper Post, the incident began Tuesday around 11 p.m. when Spencer County Sheriff’s Office deputies received a report of a theft involving lawnmowers from a residence in Dale. Officers were unable to initially locate the suspect, but a vehicle matching the description was later allegedly spotted traveling on Interstate 64 in Crawford County.
Authorities said the vehicle was allegedly clocked traveling at high speeds, prompting officers to attempt a traffic stop. The driver, later identified as 36-year-old Corey D. Tomlinson of Clarksville, allegedly fled eastbound, leading officers on a pursuit spanning multiple jurisdictions. During the chase, troopers deployed stop sticks, successfully disabling some of the vehicle’s tires, though the suspect allegedly continued driving.
The pursuit continued into Harrison County, where additional stop sticks were deployed, bringing the vehicle to a stop near the 100-mile marker. Tomlinson was taken into custody without further incident, police said.
Tomlinson was transported to the Spencer County Jail and faces several preliminary charges, including resisting law enforcement with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury, battery on law enforcement, auto theft, and possession of marijuana, among others. Authorities also said he had three active felony warrants out of Kentucky.
During the pursuit, a Harrison County deputy sustained injuries to his hand and was treated at a local hospital.
The investigation remains ongoing, and officials noted that all charges are allegations at this stage.
