Las Vegas, Nevada – Drivers across southern Nevada could face sudden crosswinds and blowing dust within the next few hours as wind gusts push up to 50 mph, creating hazardous travel conditions on major corridors like Interstate 15.

According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, a Wind Advisory remains in effect through Sunday evening, with widespread southwest winds between 30 and 50 mph impacting Clark County and surrounding regions. Officials warn that visibility may drop quickly in dust-prone areas, while hazardous boating conditions are likely on Lake Mead and Lake Mohave.

Las Vegas, Henderson, and North Las Vegas will see the strongest gusts during the afternoon commute, especially along open stretches of I-15, U.S. 95, and I-215 where sudden crosswinds can push high-profile vehicles off course. In Nye County and areas stretching toward Beatty and Pahrump, gusts could exceed 45 mph, increasing the risk of minor power disruptions and debris on roadways.

Further north, including Mesquite and Lincoln County, isolated showers are expected to develop by late afternoon, with a slight chance of thunder. Rain chances remain highest along and north of Interstate 15, with activity tapering off by evening.

Residents are urged to secure loose outdoor items, avoid unnecessary travel during peak wind periods, and use caution on area lakes. Wind impacts will gradually weaken after sunset, but additional advisories could be issued if conditions persist into early Monday.
