Wheaton, Ill. — The City of Wheaton has released its annual water quality report for 2024. The city shared that their drinking water meets all state and federal standards for water quality. Water quality is regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Safe Drinking Water Act.
The full water report can be found online. Wheaton shared that their drinking water is sourced from Lake Michigan, along with the city of Chicago and over 100 other suburbs. The water is sourced via two water treatments in the city of Chicago: the Jardine Water Purification Plant and the Sawyer Water Purification Plant. Wheaton is served by the Jardine Water Purification Plant.
The water quality tables in the report highlight the smallest traces of anything found in Wheaton water supply. The tables do not include the over 100 substances that were tested for but not detected in the water. Significant substances noted for voluntary monitoring are Cryptosporidium, Chromium-6, UCMR5 and PFAS.
