Cincinnati, OH – A Freeze Warning remains in effect for a large portion of the Ohio Valley region — including areas of southwestern Ohio, southeastern Indiana, and northern Kentucky — from 1 a.m. until 9 a.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.
Forecasters say temperatures will drop to around 31 degrees, bringing widespread frost and sub-freezing conditions across major cities including Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, Lexington, and Maysville.
According to meteorologists, the cold air could kill sensitive vegetation and damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Residents are advised to cover plants, drain irrigation systems, and wrap exposed pipes before temperatures fall overnight.
This marks one of the first widespread freezes of the season, signaling the end of the growing season across much of the tri-state region. Morning commuters may encounter patchy frost on vehicles and bridges before temperatures rebound later Friday morning.
The National Weather Service encourages residents to take precautions now as another cold front could reinforce chilly conditions through the weekend.
