Cincinnati, Ohio – Scattered thunderstorms fueled by very humid air could bring localized flash flooding to parts of the Ohio River Valley through Sunday night, impacting travel and outdoor plans from Kentucky to northern Ohio.

According to the National Weather Service’s Ohio River Forecast Center, no river flooding is currently expected. However, pockets of heavy rainfall embedded in slow-moving thunderstorms may overwhelm storm drains, particularly in urban areas. A marginal flash flood risk is in effect for much of Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and western Pennsylvania.

Cities including Columbus, Cincinnati, and Louisville may see repeated rounds of showers, with rainfall totals reaching up to an inch or more in some areas by early Tuesday. Low-lying roads and underpasses may temporarily flood, and drivers are urged to avoid water-covered streets. Isolated power outages or brief delays on major highways like I-70 and I-75 are also possible.

While this isn’t a widespread flooding event, it follows a stretch of persistently wet conditions across the region. Residents should monitor weather alerts, keep devices charged, and avoid unnecessary travel during intense downpours.

Rain chances remain elevated through late Monday, with another round of updates expected as conditions evolve.
