Cincinnati, Ohio – Warm, muggy air is building over Cincinnati and much of southwestern Ohio today, with temperatures climbing into the low to mid-80s and the risk of late-day storms creating a challenging commute for many residents. According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, a few showers or thunderstorms will be possible this afternoon and evening, especially for areas to the south and west of Cincinnati. Dayton, Wilmington, and Chillicothe should also prepare for a chance of pop-up storms that could impact travel and outdoor plans through tonight.
Localized heavy downpours and brief gusty winds are possible in any stronger thunderstorms, particularly near Cincinnati, Hamilton, and along the I-71 and I-75 corridors. While widespread severe weather is not expected, motorists should watch for slick roads during the evening drive, and anyone with outdoor events may need backup plans.
Residents are advised to stay alert for quickly changing weather conditions, charge devices ahead of any power flickers, and secure loose outdoor items in case of gusty winds. Heat will linger through the evening, keeping overnight lows mild and humid.
Spotty showers and storms may persist until early Tuesday. Additional advisories could be issued if weather conditions deteriorate.
