Cincinnati, Ohio – Heavy snow continues to spread across the Cincinnati region this afternoon, with dangerous travel conditions expected to persist through early Sunday as a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect.
Snowfall has already created slick, snow-covered roads across Hamilton, Butler, Warren, and Clermont counties, with total accumulations of 4 to 7 inches expected by the time snow tapers off early Sunday morning. Downtown Cincinnati, Mason, Milford, Hamilton, and Fairfield are all within the warning area, along with much of southwest and south-central Ohio, northern Kentucky, and southeast Indiana.
According to the National Weather Service office in Wilmington, the Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 a.m. Sunday. Periods of steady snow will continue through the evening and overnight, with reduced visibility and hazardous driving conditions. Untreated roads, bridges, and overpasses will be especially dangerous, and travel could become very difficult during heavier bursts of snow.
Ohio Department of Transportation crews are actively treating major routes including I-71, I-74, I-75, I-275, and I-471, but snow-covered lanes and slow travel are expected overnight. Similar conditions are reported along I-75 toward Dayton and I-71 toward Columbus, where additional accumulations of 4 to 6 inches are possible.
Officials strongly advise avoiding non-essential travel tonight and early Sunday. Those who must drive should slow down, allow extra stopping distance, and carry emergency supplies including food, water, and a flashlight. According to transportation officials, the latest road conditions are available at ohgo.com in Ohio, goky.ky.gov in Kentucky, and 511in.org in Indiana.
Snow will gradually taper toward daybreak Sunday, but lingering slick spots and compacted snow are expected to impact travel into the morning hours.
