CINCINNATI – Gusty south winds will whip across much of Ohio, northern Kentucky, and eastern Indiana overnight into Sunday morning, bringing the potential for scattered power outages and difficult driving conditions. The National Weather Service in Wilmington said a Wind Advisory remains in effect from 3 a.m. to noon EDT Sunday for the region, including Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton, and Maysville.
According to the Weather Service, sustained south winds of 15 to 25 mph will produce gusts up to 40 mph through late morning before gradually diminishing. The strongest gusts are expected along and west of I-71, where a pre-dawn surge ahead of a cold front could briefly push winds near 45 mph.
Officials warned residents to secure loose outdoor items such as decorations, patio furniture, and trash bins to prevent damage. Tree limbs may be blown down, resulting in isolated power outages, particularly in wooded suburbs and rural areas. Motorists driving on I-70, I-75, and I-275 should use caution, especially in high-profile vehicles exposed to crosswinds.
According to the National Weather Service, winds will ease by midday as cooler, drier air arrives behind the front. Temperatures will fall into the 50s for the afternoon under clearing skies.
