Cincinnati, Ohio – Storms arriving late Monday night could disrupt travel and knock out power across southwest Ohio, with impacts expected to begin around 10 p.m. and continue into the early morning hours Tuesday.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, a slight risk (level 2 of 5) for severe weather is in place, with storms expected to move in from the west and reach the region between 10 p.m. Monday and 3 a.m. Tuesday. While some weakening is possible before arrival, a few storms may still produce damaging wind gusts near 60 mph.
Cities including Cincinnati, Dayton, Wilmington, and Chillicothe could see the strongest impacts overnight. Major routes such as I-71, I-75, and US-35 may experience reduced visibility, ponding water, and debris if stronger wind gusts develop. The primary threat is damaging winds, which could bring down tree limbs and power lines, leading to isolated outages.
Residents should keep phones charged and enable weather alerts before going to sleep. Secure loose outdoor items and be prepared to take shelter quickly if warnings are issued overnight.
Storms may linger into early Tuesday before tapering off, with additional rounds of unsettled weather possible through midweek. Further updates are expected as storm strength and timing become clearer Monday evening.
