Wilmington, Ohio – Gusty winds are already increasing across southwest Ohio this morning, setting up a breezy and warm day before storms return later tonight.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, winds will shift to the south and strengthen through the day, with gusts reaching 25 to 35 mph across cities including Dayton, Cincinnati, and Columbus. Lingering morning showers will move out, leaving behind mostly dry conditions for much of the afternoon.

High temperatures will climb into the upper 70s to near 80 degrees, creating a mild but windy day across the region. Travel along I-70, I-71, and I-75 may be impacted at times by crosswinds, especially for high-profile vehicles.

Conditions begin to change again tonight as showers and thunderstorms redevelop, with rain chances increasing overnight and continuing into Friday. Some storms on Friday could produce stronger wind gusts and heavier rainfall, especially during the afternoon hours.

Residents should secure loose outdoor items today and stay alert for changing weather tonight into Friday. Additional advisories may be issued as storm chances increase heading into the end of the workweek.
