Wilmington, OH – A quiet weather pattern across Ohio is expected to end Sunday as rain and storm chances increase, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Forecasters said Saturday that a shift in conditions will bring scattered showers and possible thunderstorms beginning Sunday afternoon, September 21. Unsettled weather is expected to continue throughout the week, with rain chances forecast daily across southwest and central Ohio.

According to the NWS, precipitation probabilities climb significantly after Sunday, with the highest chances Monday through Wednesday. Cities including Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton, and Springfield all show rain odds above 70% during portions of those days. Maximum rain probabilities for the week reach 75% in Columbus, Dayton, and Richmond, Indiana.

While not every location will see heavy rainfall each day, residents should be prepared for on-and-off showers and possible thunderstorms, particularly during afternoon and evening hours. The weather service urged caution for outdoor plans and commutes as conditions may change quickly.

Forecasters also noted that Sunday’s storms could be stronger than those later in the week, raising the potential for localized flooding or brief severe weather.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts and check road conditions if traveling.
