Wilmington, OH – A stretch of wet and chilly weather is headed for southern and central Ohio, as the National Weather Service in Wilmington forecasts widespread rain from Wednesday morning through Thursday, followed by a notable temperature drop to end the week.

Forecasters expect steady light to moderate rain to begin early Wednesday and continue into Thursday, producing rainfall totals between 0.5 and 1.5 inches. The heaviest amounts are likely near and south of the Ohio River and along the I-71 corridor, including Cincinnati, Wilmington, and Columbus.

By Thursday, a chilly airmass will settle into the region, dropping highs into the 40s and lows into the 30s. The NWS says this cooler pattern will persist into the upcoming weekend, with below-normal temperatures expected through early next week.

Drivers should plan for wet commutes Wednesday and Thursday, with reduced visibility and minor ponding possible in low-lying areas.
