Wichita, KS – Drivers across Kansas are facing challenging conditions this morning as dense fog blankets the region, reducing visibility to as little as a quarter-mile in some areas. The National Weather Service has issued a Dense Fog Advisory for central and south-central Kansas, lasting until noon Wednesday.
According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, the fog will gradually lift by midday, but travel along major routes like I-35 and nearby highways could remain hazardous during the morning commute. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, use low-beam headlights, and allow extra time for travel.
Christmas Day temperatures will range from the 30s in the morning to highs in the 40s by afternoon, with mostly cloudy skies persisting. Tonight, expect another round of dense fog and patchy drizzle, leading to potentially slick roads overnight.
Looking ahead, Thursday brings a slight chance of rain showers by midday, especially in southern Kansas. Highs will climb into the low 50s, signaling a gradual warming trend. Friday will feature similar conditions with highs in the mid-50s, though some areas may experience scattered rain showers in the afternoon.
By Saturday, sunshine is expected to return, bringing warmer conditions with highs nearing 60 degrees across much of central and southern Kansas. This warming trend provides relief for travelers and holiday plans heading into the weekend.
Residents are encouraged to monitor forecasts and plan ahead, especially for early-morning or late-night travel over the next two days when fog and drizzle may create hazardous conditions.
