Burlington, Vermont – Additional accumulating snowfall is expected across northern Vermont and northern New York Christmas morning, followed by blustery conditions, falling temperatures, and bitter wind chills by evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, light snow will continue early in the day, with a coating to up to 2 inches of new snowfall expected in most locations. Snow is expected to gradually taper off as a cold front moves southward, though isolated snow showers may persist into the afternoon and evening.
Temperatures during the morning hours will be mainly in the 20s, before falling into the teens during the afternoon. Forecasters say northwest winds gusting between 20 and 30 mph will develop behind the front, creating blustery conditions across the region.
By Christmas evening, wind chills are expected to drop into the single digits above zero in most locations, increasing the risk of cold exposure for those spending time outdoors.
The National Weather Service advises residents and travelers to use caution on snow-covered roads, dress in layers, and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions as colder air settles in.
