Villa Park, IL – A Chicago woman was ordered held pre-trial after allegedly leading Villa Park police on a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle early Tuesday morning.

According to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, 31-year-old Molly Borowski of Chicago appeared in court Tuesday facing multiple felony charges, including possession of a stolen motor vehicle and aggravated fleeing and eluding. She was also charged with possession of burglary tools.

Authorities said the incident began around 3:20 a.m. Tuesday when a Villa Park officer attempted a traffic stop near North Avenue and Joyce Avenue on a vehicle reported stolen. The driver, allegedly identified as Borowski, did not stop and instead accelerated, reaching speeds over 100 mph. Police reported she drove through red lights and continued onto Interstate 290 after spike strips disabled two tires on the car.

Borowski was eventually taken into custody after the vehicle came to a stop. Police alleged that during her arrest, she told officers she fled because she “knows how DuPage County is” and “would rather be in Chicago.” Officers also allegedly recovered four stolen credit cards, a credit card reader, and a burglary tool in her possession.

“This type of behavior, which puts motorists and officers at risk, will not be tolerated in DuPage County,” State’s Attorney Bob Berlin said in a statement. Villa Park Police Chief Todd Kubish added that officers are committed to holding accountable those who endanger the community.

Borowski is scheduled to appear in court again on Sept. 22.
