Chicago, Illinois – Chicago is set to warm up this week, with near-summer temperatures returning by Friday and highs climbing toward 90 degrees. The National Weather Service says aside from a slim chance of sprinkles late Tuesday into early Wednesday, the rest of the week looks dry and increasingly sunny.

According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, Tuesday’s highs will reach the low to mid-70s, with clouds and isolated light rain possible overnight. By Wednesday, temperatures rise into the upper 70s inland, though areas along Lake Michigan will stay cooler in the mid-70s.

Thursday and Friday will feel more like July, with sunshine dominating and highs ranging from the upper 70s to near 90 by week’s end. The warmest spots will be away from the lakefront, where lake breezes could keep shoreline neighborhoods several degrees cooler.

Travel and outdoor plans across northern Illinois should face little disruption, but residents are encouraged to stay hydrated and limit strenuous activity during the peak afternoon heat, especially later in the week. No severe weather threats are currently expected.

The warming pattern holds into the weekend, with conditions staying mostly dry and summerlike.
