Chicago, IL – Northern Illinois will see an unsettled stretch of weather heading into the weekend, as a series of weather systems brings periods of rain and a few thunderstorms from Friday night through Sunday morning.

According to the US National Weather Service in Chicago, most areas will stay dry Thursday, with only a few isolated showers possible north of Interstate 80. Conditions will turn warmer and breezy Friday, with highs reaching near 80°F before showers and thunderstorms arrive late Friday night.

Rain chances increase Saturday with 60–80% coverage, and gusty winds will develop Sunday as cooler air moves in behind the front. Highs Sunday will only reach the upper 50s, dropping into the 40s Sunday night.

By Monday, skies will clear, bringing a cool but sunny start to next week.
