CHICAGO, Ill. – A tranquil stretch of fall weather will carry Chicago and northern Illinois through the Halloween weekend, featuring mild afternoons, cool nights, and only a slight chance of light rain by early Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, temperatures will stay seasonable through Sunday, with daytime highs in the mid-50s and lows mainly in the 30s inland and low 40s near the lake. Thursday and Friday will bring partly sunny skies and light winds — ideal for late-week outdoor events and Halloween festivities.
Friday evening temperatures will fall into the upper 40s to low 50s between 4 and 8 p.m., keeping trick-or-treating conditions comfortable across the metro area. A weak disturbance may bring a few light showers early Saturday, particularly north of I-88 and near the Wisconsin border, before drier and partly cloudy skies return later in the weekend.
Forecasters say no frost or freeze is expected through early next week. The mild pattern will hold into November, with cooler mornings but steady highs in the 50s through Monday.
Residents should watch for patchy fog in low-lying suburbs overnight and use caution during early-morning commutes as visibility briefly dips.
