Chicago, Illinois – Dry, cool air keeps Chicago in the mid-60s to near 70 Sunday before a steady warming trend brings more summerlike conditions by midweek. Residents can expect sunshine and calm weather to dominate most of the week.
According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, highs will reach the low 70s Monday with clear skies before climbing into the upper 70s by Tuesday. A slight chance of showers north of Interstate 88 Tuesday night, less than 20%, marks the only real rain risk through Thursday.
By Wednesday, much warmer air settles in, with highs ranging from 76 to 86 degrees depending on distance from Lake Michigan. Thursday continues the trend, topping out near 87 inland while lakefront neighborhoods stay cooler. Overnight lows gradually climb from the 40s Sunday night to the mid-60s later this week.
Travelers along I-88 and those near Lake Michigan should be mindful of shifting temperatures, especially cooler lake breezes that may linger through Wednesday. With generally dry conditions, outdoor activities and commutes should remain unaffected aside from minor shower chances Tuesday night.
The warming pattern is expected to hold into late week, with no major weather disruptions currently forecast.
