Chicago, Illinois – A stretch of cool, dry weather will settle over northern Illinois this weekend, bringing below-normal temperatures and only a slim chance of sprinkles near the Wisconsin border Saturday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, daytime highs will stay in the mid-60s to low 70s through Sunday, with overnight lows dipping into the 40s across suburban areas and slightly warmer near Lake Michigan. While most of the area will remain dry, breezy conditions Saturday could push a few isolated sprinkles across the Illinois-Wisconsin line.
Sunday looks clear and comfortable, with sunny skies and highs near 70 in Chicago. Warmer weather builds in by Monday, when temperatures rise into the mid to upper 70s. The next chance of showers arrives Tuesday afternoon, mainly north of Interstate 88, with temperatures climbing into the upper 70s and low 80s.
Travelers heading north toward Rockford or into southern Wisconsin should keep an eye out for brief wet spots Saturday afternoon, but otherwise roads are expected to remain clear. Cooler nights may require light jackets for evening outdoor events through the weekend.
Dry and mild conditions are expected to continue until Tuesday, when scattered showers could mark the start of a more unsettled pattern.
