CHICAGO – Breezy winds and cool air are keeping Chicago and much of northern Illinois feeling more like fall than early September this weekend. Saturday highs will stay in the upper 60s to low 70s, with overnight lows dipping into the upper 30s and 40s away from Lake Michigan.

According to the National Weather Service Chicago, only a slight chance of sprinkles is expected near the Wisconsin border late Saturday afternoon and evening, but most of the region will remain dry. Sunshine takes over Sunday and Monday, with highs climbing into the mid-70s and lows remaining seasonably cool in the 40s and low 50s.

By Tuesday, a few scattered showers may develop north of Interstate 88, though much of the metro area is expected to stay dry. Highs will push back into the upper 70s to near 80. Wednesday will bring the warmest stretch of the week, with highs in the low to mid-80s, though cooler readings are likely along the lakefront.

Residents should be prepared for chilly mornings through the weekend and continue monitoring updates as temperatures rebound next week.
