Chicago, IL – The National Weather Service in Chicago reports that a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for much of northern Illinois and northwest Indiana through Sunday morning, as moderate snow continues to blanket the region.
The advisory covers Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, Will, Grundy, and La Salle Counties in Illinois, as well as Lake and Porter Counties in Indiana. Forecasters expect 2 to 6 inches of total accumulation, with localized higher amounts possible along the I-88 corridor, including Aurora, Naperville, and DeKalb.
Snow is forecast to taper off between 6 and 9 a.m. CST Sunday, but roads will remain slick for early commuters. Drivers should reduce speed, allow extra travel time, and maintain safe following distances—especially on I-55, I-80, and I-90/94.
Wind gusts may also cause reduced visibility at times overnight. Residents are advised to check gettingaroundillinois.com or 511in.org for updated road conditions before traveling.
This Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 a.m. CST for northwestern Illinois and until 9 a.m. CST for the Chicago metro and northwest Indiana on Sunday, December 7.
