Chicago, IL – Mild and dry weather will continue into Sunday across northern Illinois, offering one more pleasant day before a major pattern shift arrives early next week. Temperatures Sunday are expected to reach the low-to-mid 50s, with partly to mostly sunny skies across the Chicago metro and northwest Indiana shoreline.
According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, a significant change occurs late Monday as a period of rain moves into the area. Showers may begin during the afternoon or evening south of I-55 before becoming more widespread Monday night and continuing into early Tuesday. Highs Monday should reach 53–56 degrees.
Scattered showers linger into Tuesday, with temperatures holding in the mid-50s before a strong cold front moves through. By Wednesday, the region turns blustery and much colder, with highs only in the mid-30s and lows dipping into the 20s. Gusty winds may make it feel even colder throughout the day.
Thanksgiving Day looks dry but chilly, with highs in the low-to-mid 30s and morning lows dropping into the teens and 20s. While no rain or snow is expected Thursday, travelers should prepare for sharp temperature contrasts compared to early-week conditions.
The cold weather continues into the end of the week with breezy conditions Thursday and seasonally cold temperatures Friday.
