Chicago, IL – Northern Illinois residents can expect unsettled weather conditions through the workweek, with periodic chances for showers and thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). While scattered storms are possible, most hours are forecast to remain dry.
According to the NWS Chicago office, rain chances begin Monday with a 15% to 30% chance of storms north of I-80 and up to 40% south of I-80. Patchy fog is also possible in some areas overnight. Temperatures will stay warm, with highs reaching between 75 and 80 degrees.
Tuesday continues the trend, bringing 20% to 40% storm chances during the day, with the highest likelihood again focused south of I-80. Highs will climb into the mid-70s to low 80s, with nighttime lows dipping into the upper 50s to mid-60s.
The greatest potential for storms arrives Wednesday, when rain chances increase to 30% to 60%. The NWS reports the highest probability will be south of I-80. Cooler conditions will follow, with highs only in the upper 60s to mid-70s.
Scattered showers are still possible Thursday (20% to 25% chance) and Friday (20% chance), with highs remaining in the low 70s. Rain chances taper off heading into the weekend.
Forecasters stress that while showers and thunderstorms are expected at times, the week will not be a complete washout. Most areas should still see plenty of dry stretches between the storms.
