Chicago, IL – Residents across Illinois should prepare for a warmer but wet weekend, with rain and gusty winds forecast. After a chilly Friday, temperatures will rise sharply Saturday night, accompanied by showers that could impact travel.

According to the National Weather Service, rain is expected to develop late Saturday afternoon, with heavier showers likely after midnight. Breezy conditions, with gusts up to 30 mph, will accompany the rain, creating potentially hazardous driving conditions, especially along major roadways like I-55. Temperatures will peak near 45 degrees Sunday, offering a mild but wet day for much of the state.

Monday will bring even warmer highs, climbing to the low 50s, though periods of rain are expected to continue. Drivers should remain cautious, as wet roadways and reduced visibility could persist into the early workweek.

The warm trend won’t last long. By Tuesday, colder air will return, dropping overnight lows into the 20s and daytime highs back into the 30s. Wednesday is expected to be dry but seasonably cool, with a high near 36 degrees.

For those planning holiday shopping or other outdoor activities, Saturday morning and early Tuesday may provide the best conditions before the rain begins. Stay informed with frequent updates and be cautious on the roads during periods of heavy rain or gusty winds.
