Chicago, IL – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon today for northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana, as snow and gusty winds continue to create hazardous travel conditions across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, light snow and patchy blowing snow will persist through late morning, with additional accumulations of up to one inch possible. Wind gusts up to 35 mph are expected to cause reduced visibility and drifting snow, particularly on open roadways and rural areas.

The advisory covers counties including Cook, DuPage, Kane, McHenry, Will, Lake (IL and IN), and Porter, affecting major cities such as Chicago, Rockford, Joliet, Aurora, Waukegan, and Gary.

Forecasters warn that slick roads and snow-covered bridges will make for difficult travel, especially along I-90, I-94, and I-55 during the morning commute. Drivers are advised to use caution, reduce speeds, and allow extra time to reach destinations.

The snow is expected to taper off by midday, though gusty winds may continue to blow around loose snow, keeping visibility low in some areas through early afternoon.
