Chicago, IL – A spring chill will settle over the Chicago area beginning Monday morning, bringing gusty snow showers and overnight lows dipping into the low 20s. The unseasonable cold will impact much of northern Illinois, especially communities along the Lake Michigan shoreline.
According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, breezy north winds and a 30–50% chance of snow showers are expected throughout Monday. Daytime highs will struggle to rise above the low 40s, while overnight temperatures could fall to 20–28°F in some suburban areas.
Tuesday will offer a slight break in precipitation, but temperatures will remain below seasonal averages, with highs between 41–48°F. Snow may return late Wednesday, accompanied by rain, and temperatures will gradually increase toward the end of the week, reaching highs in the mid-50s by Thursday.
Residents are advised to dress in layers, protect sensitive plants from freezing, and monitor conditions closely if traveling. This spring chill marks a sharp contrast to typical early April weather in the region, where average highs usually reach the upper 50s.
