Chicago, IL – Nearly a dozen protesters were arrested Saturday afternoon after blocking Franklin Street in downtown Chicago during a demonstration in support of Palestine.
According to the Chicago Police Department, the protest began at approximately 2:41 p.m., with demonstrators obstructing the street between Monroe Street and Arcade Place. Police officers on the scene attempted to communicate with the organizers to encourage a peaceful dispersal.
Following repeated failure to comply, the first arrest occurred at approximately 3:12 p.m. In total, 11 individuals were arrested for allegedly blocking the street. The protest, which drew significant attention, disrupted traffic and prompted a substantial police presence.
