Chicago, IL – A stretch of wet and unseasonably warm weather will impact the Chicago metro area through the end of the week, bringing waves of rain, strong winds, and even the chance for a few thunderstorms.

According to the US National Weather Service Chicago, light showers may begin as early as Wednesday night, with the heaviest rainfall expected southwest of the city on Thursday evening. Temperatures will steadily climb, peaking Friday with highs reaching between 70–78°F across the region, far above late March averages.

Windy conditions will accompany Friday’s warmup, with gusts likely throughout the day. Early morning showers may be accompanied by isolated thunderstorms, especially before dawn. Rain chances taper off briefly later Friday, but breezy and mild weather returns Saturday with highs in the mid-60s and another round of scattered showers possible.

Lows each night will remain mild, ranging from the low 30s to upper 50s depending on the day and location. Commuters should monitor road conditions Thursday night into Friday, especially southwest of Chicago where storm chances are highest.

Residents are advised to secure outdoor items ahead of Friday’s winds and stay alert for changing weather conditions into the weekend.
