Chicago, IL – A 37-year-old man has been charged with multiple felonies, including first-degree murder, after allegedly setting fire to a Bridgeport residence early Saturday, resulting in the death of a 54-year-old woman and injuries to a 12-year-old girl.
According to the Chicago Police Department, 9th District officers responded to a fire in the 3100 block of South Green Street around 2:27 a.m. Officers, alerted by the Strategic Decision Support Center, were informed of a suspect seen on camera throwing an incendiary device through a window. Within 45 minutes, officers apprehended the suspect nearby.
The suspect faces charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, aggravated arson, and a citation for annual gun offender registration.
