Chicago, IL – Much cooler and more typical November weather is settling into the Chicago area today and will continue through midweek. After a stretch of milder days, temperatures are now returning to seasonal norms, with afternoon highs expected to reach 46–51 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Winds remain light, allowing for a crisp but pleasant Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service Chicago office, the coldest part of the forecast arrives tonight, when temperatures drop sharply into the mid-20s to upper-20s in many suburbs. Downtown Chicago will remain somewhat warmer, with lows in the low 30s, but frost conditions are likely across the region.
Monday will bring another cool day with highs in the 46–52° range and increasing clouds during the evening. Rain is forecast to develop after midnight Monday night, with showers spreading across northern Illinois and northwest Indiana. Lows Monday night will fall into the upper-30s, with downtown areas remaining in the low 40s.
Rain continues into Tuesday morning before tapering off around midday. Tuesday’s highs stay in the 44–51° range, making it the chilliest day of the week. Skies will remain mostly cloudy even after the rain ends, keeping conditions damp and cool.
By Wednesday, temperatures rebound slightly into the 48–56° range, but cloud cover is expected to persist. No significant storms or hazardous weather are anticipated during this period, and winds remain fairly light.
Residents should plan for colder nights, prepare for a wet Tuesday morning commute, and expect cloudy conditions through midweek.
