Chicago, IL – Rain showers are set to return to northern Illinois Monday night into Tuesday, bringing a damp start to the week along with the chance for a few snowflakes near the Illinois–Wisconsin border. Forecasters say temperatures will remain seasonable for mid-November, with another round of rainfall likely on Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, tonight’s lows will dip into the 23–30°F range, with lakeshore areas holding closer to 30–34°F. Monday begins quietly with partly sunny skies and highs between 45–52°F, though a few sprinkles may develop late in the day before steadier rain arrives Monday night.

Tuesday brings the bulk of the precipitation, particularly during the morning and early afternoon, with highs ranging from 42–51°F. Some areas near the Wisconsin state line—especially Lake, McHenry, and northern Cook counties—may see a brief rain-snow mix as colder pockets of air move through early Tuesday.

Skies partially clear Wednesday, offering a break from the active pattern as highs climb into the 46–53°F range under partly sunny conditions. This dry stretch will be short-lived, however, as forecasters track another system expected to move in Thursday. Rain chances rise to 60–70%, with temperatures reaching between 51–60°F.

Overall precipitation amounts are expected to remain light to moderate, but commuters should plan for wet roads late Monday and again Thursday. No significant wintry impacts are anticipated at this time.

Residents across Cook, Lake, DuPage, and surrounding counties are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts as timing and precipitation type may shift slightly with incoming data.
