Chicago, Illinois – A brief chance of snow showers near Lake Michigan tonight will give way to dry and gradually warmer conditions across the Chicago area through the upcoming workweek.
According to the U.S. National Weather Service Chicago, a few snow showers or flurries are possible tonight near the lake, particularly across northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana. Areas farther inland are expected to remain dry. Any snow that does develop is expected to be light and spotty, with minimal accumulation.
Temperatures today will remain cold, with highs ranging from the lower 20s to around 30 degrees. Overnight lows are expected to fall into the mid-teens to lower 20s. Slick spots may briefly develop near the lakefront and along nearby roadways late tonight.
The remainder of the weekend is expected to be quiet and dry. Highs on Sunday will climb into the upper 20s to mid-30s, with improving travel conditions along major corridors including Interstate 90, I-94, I-290, and I-80.
A warming trend is forecast to begin Monday and continue into Tuesday. High temperatures Monday are expected to range from the mid-30s to near 50 degrees, followed by even milder conditions Tuesday when highs may reach the mid-40s to upper 50s across parts of the region.
Wednesday is forecast to be slightly cooler, with highs settling back into the mid-30s to mid-40s, but conditions will remain dry.
The warming temperatures early next week may improve road conditions and reduce cold-related risks for commuters, students, and outdoor workers traveling during daytime hours.
Residents are encouraged to remain aware of changing conditions near the lake tonight and continue monitoring official National Weather Service updates as temperatures trend upward into the workweek.
