Chicago, Illinois – Drivers around Chicago may encounter patchy fog late Thursday night into Friday morning, while residents should also prepare for a surge of summer-like heat extending into early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, Friday brings highs in the mid-80s to near 90 inland, with cooler 70s near the lakefront. A brief shower or thunderstorm could develop late Friday night into Saturday, with the best chances for rain Saturday evening into the overnight hours. Even then, most areas will remain dry.

Saturday will climb to 85–91 degrees, with humidity adding to the heat, while storms may briefly impact travel and outdoor plans. By Sunday, the region turns hot and dry again, with highs pushing near 94 inland and around 80 lakeside as lake breezes kick in.

The heat sticks around Monday with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s, though conditions will be more comfortable along the shoreline. Officials advise limiting strenuous activity during peak afternoon hours and watching for sudden downpours if storms develop Saturday night.

Warm weather holds until early next week, with more updates expected if storm chances increase this weekend.
