Chicago, IL – A gloomy stretch of weather continues across the Chicago area today as low overcast skies and pockets of light drizzle linger through the morning hours. The National Weather Service in Chicago reports that temperatures will remain cool, with highs only 46°–49° across the metro.

According to forecasters, Friday brings more cloud cover, along with a chance of rain mainly south of I-80. Highs will again stay in the upper 40s to mid-50s, with evening drizzle possible. Overnight lows fall into the upper 20s to mid-30s Friday night, especially in outlying suburbs.

Improvement arrives this weekend as cloud cover finally breaks. Saturday should bring dry weather with highs 49°–53°, followed by even milder temperatures on Sunday, reaching 55°–60° with periods of sunshine. Monday stays seasonably mild with highs in the 53°–57° range.

While conditions remain dreary today, no hazardous weather is expected. Commuters may encounter damp roads early but should see manageable travel conditions.
