Chicago, IL – After a cold and breezy start to Tuesday with a few light snow showers or flurries, a major warm-up is on the way for northern Illinois, according to the National Weather Service in Chicago.

Forecasters say morning flurries will taper off by midday, leaving behind partly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 30s to mid-40s. Conditions will stay dry through the rest of the week, with steady warming expected each day.

By Wednesday, highs will climb into the mid-40s to low 50s, and by Thursday and Friday, much of the region will reach the upper 50s to mid-60s. The warmest day is likely Saturday, when some areas may approach 70°F, marking one of the mildest stretches of the month so far.

“Dry conditions are expected through the rest of the week,” the NWS said, noting only a slight chance of light rain late Saturday as another weak system approaches.

Morning lows will remain chilly, ranging from the 30s early in the week to the 40s by Friday, with breezy southwest winds helping to fuel the warm-up.

Overall, the region will see a pleasant turnaround following a frosty Veterans Day morning.
