Chicago, IL – A milder stretch of weather is expected across northern Illinois this week, with dry conditions through midweek before snow chances return later in the period.

According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, temperatures will trend upward early in the work week. Highs on Monday are forecast to range from the low to mid-40s, with increasing cloud cover by the afternoon. Overnight lows are expected to settle into the low to mid-30s.

Tuesday is expected to be the mildest day of the week, with afternoon highs climbing into the upper 30s to upper 40s, accompanied by breezy conditions. Overnight lows Tuesday night will dip back into the low to mid-20s.

Temperatures cool slightly on Wednesday, with highs forecast between 33 and 43 degrees under continued dry conditions. Overnight lows Wednesday night are expected to range from 22 to 27 degrees.

Attention then turns to Thursday, when snow chances return, mainly during the afternoon and evening hours. The National Weather Service notes a 20 to 30 percent chance of snow, with potential accumulations of up to 1 to 3 inches, primarily west of the Fox Valley. Overnight lows Thursday night are forecast to range from 21 to 26 degrees.

Friday is expected to remain seasonable, with highs between 36 and 44 degrees, though additional precipitation chances may return into the upcoming weekend.

Major roadways including I-90, I-94, I-88, I-290, and I-80 should see favorable travel conditions through Wednesday before the potential for slick spots develops late Thursday, particularly during the evening commute.
